sorry about the lack of posts and/or various tidbits of information. life busy, etc. etc.anyway, the political discourse is nauseating this close to an election. i can't stand any of the fundo-conservative potentials, nor the decidedly lackluster obama. i'm sort of leaning towards ron paul, mainly because i can't stand him less than the other options. plus, he'd legalize marijuana federally, which is strangely important.
i could fill a book with the dangers and pitfalls of the incredibly expensive war on drugs. but that's already been done by people more diligent, intelligent, and more resourceful than myself.
i was keen on hearing paul (on the video attached to the link above) describe drugs as a "health problem, not a legal problem." i couldn't agree more - prison sentences, fear, and death hasn't scared people from using drugs. this policy has failed quite unlike anything before. perhaps instead of seeing 22 million americans as criminals, we could see them as people that may or may not need medical assistance (disclaimer: the aforementioned article links to a federal study, so beware of bias/tampering anyway).
so, why ron paul? some of his leanings concern me, but i don't think anyone else would work towards freeing us senseless burdens like the war on drugs. it's not like i'm a campaigner or anything, i just dislike him least.

not much to say.- The Beatles - Across the Universe [miss ya John]Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
That call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letterbox
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world
Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing through my open mind
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world
Nothing's going to change my world

the delusions of the tea party are pretty scary.i'm trying to be open to other political ideologies, i really am. it's particularly difficult to accept what the tea party is trying to sell. i can understand the desire to be taxed less (i had a sentence here regarding why i think it's selfish, but i removed it at my own bequest), or having a problem with homosexuals running rampant, or not following the teachings of christ, or whatever, but the blatant racism and homophobia are kind of deal breakers. i can't respect anyone who disrespects people based on race or sexual preference... these are things that cannot be changed (unlike political affiliation, religious preference, etc).
it's rather disgusting, really. we should be an enlightened people! we have the technology and the power to better the world, right now! instead, we bicker, slur, attack, and humiliate each other. mankind can do better. i know it to be so - i've met people who work for these ends, people that would give you the shirt off their back (so to speak).
it's not that i'm ignoring what people are saying - i want to be informed. i'm not a democrat, nor republican, nor "independent" (hah!), but an idealist who wishes the best for the world. regardless of your opinions on politics and religion (my major pet peeves and points of frustration), perhaps we should work together toward improving the lives of our brothers and sisters.

the rapture didn't happen. unfortunate.i'm stuck in reverse and flooring it. can't seem to get out of the mud. know it's only temporary, but my blinders are fixed.
currently looking to resolve a housing dilemma. i need to find some roommates and a place to live yesterday. more bad news last night, and i can't seem to figure out what to do.
this summer, i am going to be traveling a lot. i've already visited kansas city, but i want to head to the southwest, maybe colorado, and maybe minnesota or chicago. i need to experience these places - i'm so very sick of nebraska. i want to explore the mountains, deserts, and lakes that make this place so interesting. i'm pretty sure i'll be in las vegas sometime. i'd really, really like to make it to burning man this year. or, perhaps, the electric forest festival. i'm pretty much a huge string cheese incident fan, so that may happen. summer hasn't started yet, but the itch is present and accounted for.

i think i'm ready to accept the technofree once a week challenge again. the challenge is unplugging once a week from all [or at least most] forms of technology. i started trying this last year, and would like to continue it this year.i spent most of my days last summer wandering around parks barefoot. sure, might sound strange, but i loved it. the feeling of nature literally beneath my feet was amazing.

the world is ending this saturday, 6 pm. please be ready.i really feel bad for these "believers." i mean, devoting their entire lives to a religion is one thing, but telling people the "end of days" is near? sad, really.
i've felt like helping people lately. perhaps this batch of christian nutjobs could be a primo target? well, it's probably way too late for them, but i'd like to think i could help them.
regardless, if the world does come crashing down (due to an earthquake simultaneously at 6 pm each time zone), this post will be hilariously ironic. for the record, i am not atheist. i wish people understood the difference between spirituality and religion.
i promise all my worldly possessions to whomever finds them first, should global rapture break out on may 21st.

if i could spend my entire life on the beach, i would. i don't really care where, or when, but there's something primeval and blissful about spending my days bathed in sun and sand.the precursor, of course, is volleyball. i play on three teams right now, and can't get enough of it. i simply love the sport and would play it at any opportunity possible.

i've built a mobile site for theoriginalrealdeal.com - you can check it out at: m.theoriginalrealdeal.com. any feedback is, as always, welcomed.i'd be especially interested in how it works/looks on an iphone or android, since i only have a palm pre (webos) to test it on.
